Construction work on Nanhuabao 220kV Substation is scheduled to commence in early December, according to information released by the Liangjiang government on Nov 24.
The substation, located at the Longxing Industrial Development Zone in the Liangjiang New Area, will span more than 12,000 square meters and receive a total investment of 112.33 million yuan ($16.23 million).
The main body of the substation is expected to be completed within seven months.
When it is put into operation, the substation will supply electricity for companies in the zone, including Chongqing Jihua Outlets and the Film City complex.
As part of Chongqing government’s latest efforts to reform the electricity pricing, the new substation will become a power safeguard for the sustainable economy development of Liangjiang New Area.
So far, a dozen of companies in the industrial development zone are set to benefit from electricity pricing reforms.
It is predicted that the comprehensive electricity cost will be reduced by over 15 percent. More companies are expected to benefit from the area’s energy pricing reforms by the end of this year.
