Swiss robotics company ABB Group signed an investment agreement with Liangjiang New Area on Nov 17 to build its Chongqing application center at the Liangjiang Shuitu Industrial Park.
The project will develop the integration and application of ABB’s robotics systems in the domestic market. The company will to invest its Chongqing robotics body construction base following strong growth of the country’s robotics market.
The settlement of ABB Group in the area demonstrates a wide recognition of Chongqing’s location advantages and its strong momentum in the robot market, according to officials.

ABB followed the world’s third largest robot company FANUC to settle in the park. Another robotics company KUKA signed a contract with Liangjiang New Area to build their factories in Shuitu Industrial Area earlier this year.
The four foreign giants are the top robot enterprises with the most advanced core manufacturing technology, occupying 70 percent of China’s industrial robot market.
With nearly two decades of experience in the Chinese robotics market, ABB pioneered robotic applications in food and beverage, metal polishing, palletizing, computer, communication and consumer electronics.
