Chinese President Xi Jinping paid a visit to Guoyuan Port in Southwest China’s Chongqing municipality during his inspection tour of the city from Jan 4 to 6, 2016. Guoyuan Port, connected to the Chongqing-Xinjiang-Europe International Railway, began operations in December 2013. With 16 berths the port can handle 6 million tons of bulk cargo annually, playing an important role in making Chongqing an economic and trade hub in the upper Yangtze River and inland areas.
