Glass and ceramics maker Corning Incorporated launched its G8.5 LCD glass substrate production line at the Liangjiang Shuitu High-tech Industrial Park on Feb 16, bringing new development in emerging industries to the Liangjiang New Area.
Corning signed a contract with Liangjiang New Area’s administrative committee to invest in a new glass substrate production base in the area in June 2015.

The United States-based Corning’s business in China includes optical communications technologies and display technologies used to make liquid crystal display panels.
The new production base will serve LCD panel makers in China, such as BOE Technology Group, a leading supplier of semiconductor display products, which also has a branch in the Liangjiang New Area.
Ji Kebin, president of Corning Incorporated in China, delivered a speech during the launch ceremony, and he said, “The launch of Corning Chongqing LCD glass factory is a vital component of our company’s global ambition. Our company is devoted to providing high quality and the best LCD glass substrate for Chinese customers.”
“We are very happy about the new factory in the Liangjiang New Area, which is a new part of our company’s global supply chain. We will provide technology and manufacturing support to meet local glass demands,” said Zhang Zheng, vice general manager of Corning Display Global Business Group.
