Coffee is one of the three major beverages in the world, along with cocoa and tea. More than 1.6 billion people consume it worldwide.
The Chongqing Coffee Exchange, founded in June 2016, facilitates coffee transaction and settlement. It has more than 180 registered members and boasts a spot transaction volume of 5.268 billion yuan ($765 million).
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
