A delegation of overseas Chinese who work in new media visited Chongqing Pilot Free Trade Zone in Liangjiang New Area on April 12, to find out more about it.
The delegation consisted of 19 overseas Chinese from 16 countries including America, Canada, Japan and Australia. They toured several major functional areas in Liangjiang, such as Liangjiang New Area Planning Exhibition Hall, Guoyuan Port, Yufu Industrial Development Zone and Internet Industrial Zone.
Liu Donghui, executive president of Czech Republic’s Prague Chinese Times, said, “It is a great opportunity for Liangjiang New Area ro act as a door for the opening-up in western China.”
Guoyuan Port has been designated as a hub for Chongqing’s opening-up and plans to raise throughput by promoting international transport and improving transshipment efficiency to take advantage of the Yangtze River.
Lu Yu, vice president of Sino-US Times, said, “I visited the Guoyuan Port last year and some big changes have been made in that time with more than 10 new shipping routes opened. I believe the construction of Chongqing FTZ will accelerate the port to be an international one.”
The delegation also visited the Bonded Products Exhibition and Trade Center and Parallel Trade Imported Automobile Exhibition Center. And they learnt about some new trade modes that Liangjiang is applying to service trade.
