Liangjiang’s International Movie City attracted approximately 318,000 tourists from across the globe over the national May Day holiday, according to a management officer of the scenic area on May 2.
Visitors wearing traditional Chongqing costumes could be found touring the movie city over the three-day holiday, seeking memories from Chongqing’s illustrious past.
During the holiday, a grand parade featuring local folk performances and plays proved to be the hottest activity in the movie city. The parade began in Chongqing Jiefangbei Square, a city landmark, before navigating through the movie city’s rustic streets.
The Cathay Theater, well-known as a cultural center in Chongqing, also attracted thousands to enjoy happy moments with famous dramatic actors. The theater was once a place for local celebrities to enjoy variety of entertainments, including stage plays, musical concerts and movies.
The Liangjiang International Movie City is expected to hold a beer and music festival from May 28 to May 30.
Located in the Longxing Industrial Park of Chongqing’s Liangjiang New Area, the 120,000-square-meter movie city is only one hour’s drive away from downtown Chongqing.
