A media delegation comprised of reporters from seven influential US news outlets visited the Liangjiang New Area in Chongqing on June 20.

The delegation represented key staff members from The Seattle Times, The Boston Globe, Minneapolis Star Tribune, Washington Post, NPR, NBC (National Broadcasting Company) and the East-West Center. Touring the Liangjiang New Area's Planning Exhibition Hall, Chongqing Coffee Trade Center, Yuelai New City and China's largest crowdsourcing platform Zhubajie.com, the delegation learned of Chongqing's efforts to upgrade the area's industrial structure.

Peng De, general manager of the Chongqing Coffee Trade Center, shared with the media teams that the center is China's biggest coffee e-commerce platform and provides a professional assessment agency for coffee production in China.

Xiong Jiran, general manager of the Yuelai Group, guided the delegation through the Chongqing International Expo Center and the spongy city projects in Yuelai New City.

"The construction of the spongy city projects gives me a deep impression that the government is devoted to improve urban flooding," said Tracy Jan, a reporter from the Washington Post.
