The Liangjiang New Area signed a regional industrial cooperation agreement with Tongnan district in on June 30.

Detailed agreements were signed to assure coordinated and interactive development between the two governments and local companies through regional investment plans. Efforts will be made to improve the industrial layout, infrastructure and other social undertakings of the two regions.

Covering an area of 1,583 kilometers in northwestern Chongqing, the Tongnan district is known for its agriculture, eco-cultural tourism and industry.

"We want to follow Liangjiang's progress in industrial development and innovation, and make Tongnan another demonstration area," said Zeng Jinghua, secretary of the Tongnan District Administrative Committee.

"Liangjiang will sharpen its edge and lead coordinated developments between local regions," according to Tang Zongwei, deputy director of the Liangjiang New Area Administrative Committee.

The Liangjiang New Area is the first national development area in inland China designated by the State council. The new area features a demonstration area for scientific development, a pilot zone for urban-rural reform, an advanced manufacturing and modern services center and a financial and innovation center for the upstream Yangtze River region.
