The Chongqing Transport Commission concluded the city's five year rapid development on comprehensive transportation on June 26.

Transportation improvements in aviation, railways, waterways, highways and light metro will provide strong support for the implementation of three key national strategies–the Belt and Road Initiative, the Yangtze River Economic Belt and the Chongqing Five Functional Areas.

Aviation:

The passenger throughput of Jiangbei International Airport and Wanzhou Airport reached 36.59 million in 2016, maintaining an average growth rate of over 13 percent in the past five years. The volume of air cargo reached 360,000 tons in 2016.

The Jiangbei International Airport has seen 35.89 million visitors in 2016, ranking ninth in the country and the 55th busiest airport globally.
