Siyuan Country Park in Liangjiang New Area will open to the public by the end of this year, according to Chongqing Liangjiang New Area Urban Landscape Construction Co Ltd on July 12.

Located on the Shuitu High-tech Industrial Park and costing 80 million yuan ($11.8 million), it will be the biggest country park in the area, covering 480 mu (32 hectares).

A total of 403 mu will be made up of green spaces, consisting of nine areas where people can relax, go sightseeing, visit wetlands, play sports and enjoy nature, as well as take part in cultural activities.

A manager at Chongqing Liangjiang New Area Urban Landscape Construction said the company had taken into consideration local residents needs when construction the park.

Currently, Liangjiang has 10 parks, but officials say that number will increase to 100 by 2020, including 22 city mountain parks and 58 waterfront parks.
