Chongqing intl entrepreneurship competition attracts talents

The first round of an international innovation and entrepreneurship competition hosted in Beijing's Zhongguancun Science Park concluded on July 29.

The competition has been organized as part of activity series to accompany the 2017 Chongqing International Talent Innovation and Entrepreneurship Conference.

Some 17 teams from all over the world took part in the competition, showcasing their skills with projects in the fields of biomedicine, energy conservation and environmental protection, high-end equipment manufacturing, artificial intelligence (AI), virtual reality (VR) and new energy vehicles.

The competition, co-hosted by the Liangjiang New Area administrative committee and the Global Talents Exchange Center, aims to attract high level talents to start up businesses and invest in the Liangjiang New Area.

Project submissions were judged based on team presentations, technology level, expansion capabilities and industrial orientation.

Zheng Pengcheng, who received a doctorate from Japan's University of Tsukuba, submitted a carbon emissions trading platform project for the competition.

Zheng shared that he launched the carbon emission trading platform in the Liangjiang New Area of Chongqing, aiding local companies and companies in the southwestern region to cut carbon emissions costs in total of almost 100 million yuan ($14.9 million).

Other rounds of the competition will be held in Shanghai, Shenzhen, San Francisco, USA, and Oxford, England, throughout August. The final will be held in Chongqing in September.
