The T3A Terminal of Chongqing's Jiangbei International Airport is scheduled to be officially opened on Aug 29.
The new terminal is designed to accommodate an annual passenger throughput of 45 million, a total cargo and mail volume of 1.1 million tons and 373,000 flights.
Covering a total construction area of 537,000 square meters, the terminal building is 2.5 times as large as the existing T1, T2A and T2B terminals.

The T3A Terminal has made many breakthroughs with its high standard construction. The terminal's 75,000–square–meter cable-structure glass curtain is the largest of its kind in Asian area. Its new 3,800-meter runway is able to accommodate the world's largest passenger plane, the Airbus A380.

Cutting–edge technologies make the terminal more intelligent. An automatic baggage handling system, with a baggage recognition rate of 99.5 percent, has been installed in the terminal. Another feature, an intelligent parking lot which can read license numbers automatically, has been built, with a further 94 parking slots scheduled to be added this year to double parking availability.
Once the terminal is put into operation, local officials estimate the airport will see 20 percent of China's domestic air traffic will passing through its corridors.
