Chongqing Expressway Group announced on Sept 28 that 28 charging stations are now operational in the city's expressway service centers.
The charging stations are equipped with 112 charging piles, each of which can charge four vehicles at the same time.
The Chongqing Expressway Group is now joining with State Grid Chongqing Electric Power Company to build further charging stations in the centers.
The existing stations include 10 on the G5001 City Belt Expressway, six on the G93 Chengdu-Chongqing Expressway, five on the G85 Chongqing-Kunming Expressway, and three on the G50 Shanghai-Chongqing Expressway.
There are 33 charging stations currently under construction and predicted to start operation by the end of this year. They will mainly serve expressways connecting Chongqing with Shanghai, the Inner Mongolia autonomous region, Chengdu and Hainan province.
