Tourism was booming in Chongqing's Liangjiang New Area (LNA) during the National Day holiday week to the benefit of the local economy and tourism industry, local media reported on Oct 9.
As China's "Golden Weeks", the National Day holiday saw a surge in tourist revenue along with passenger flow. This year the holiday was extended by one day with the Mid-Autumn Festival falling on Oct 4.
Three local scenic spots–Liangjiang International Movie City, Chongqing Garden Expo Park, and Jihua Garden Extreme Sports Center–proved to be the most attractive destinations for visiting tourists.

Statistics revealed that more than 500,000 tourists travelled through Liangjiang International Movie City over the eight-day holiday. The movie city organized a number of activities, including a glutinous rice cake making event, singing performances, a storytelling meeting, poem writing and drinking competitions.
Some 100,000 spider plants and 10,000 sweet-scented osmanthus blooming in Chongqing Garden Expo Park drew a total of 150,000 visitors.

According to the administrative office of Chongqing Garden Expo Park, the park also held activities for both parents and children including a DIY T-shirt activity, a sports competition and airplane model exhibition.
Extreme sports enthusiasts got their adrenaline fix under one roof at Jihua Garden Extreme Sports Center, experiencing indoor skydiving, indoor surfing, rock climbing and indoor skiing. The center said it received more than 5,000 visitors per day during the holiday.
