New Zealand and Chongqing rally on education

Leaders from higher education institutes of New Zealand toured a number of universities in Chongqing on Oct 10.

Chris Moore, vice-president of New Zealand's Massey University, Jason Ho, president of the New Zealand College of Business, and Phillip Duval, vice-president of the New Zealand College of Business, witnessed the signing of a cooperation agreement between the two universities and Chongqing Normal University.

Xu Jun, head of Chongqing University's international department, introduced the delegation to the school's talent cultivation and international communication methodologies, hoping to see deeper academic exchanges and cooperation between New Zealand and Chongqing.

Massey University of and the New Zealand College of Business have launched a master's level education collaboration with Chinese universities to benefit more overseas Chinese students.

Efforts will also be made to organize teacher exchanges, educational training and other academic exchanges, according to Ho.

Chris Moore said that Massey University considers its cooperation with Chinese universities of great importance. It aims to bring about an exchange of Eastern and Western culture and cultivate international talent.

Chongqing is the first stop for the New Zealand delegation before moving on to seek further cooperation with universities throughout China, building an education platform for Chinese students studying in New Zealand.
