Liangjiang New Area's Kangmei Residential Area has become home to 756 startups and talents since its opening this January, LNA's science and technology innovation bureau said on Oct 17.
Kangmei Residential Area was built by the LNA administrative committee and Chongqing's public rental housing management bureau in a joint ef-fort to provide accommodation for 118 companies in the Zhaomu Mountain Science and Technology Innovation City.
Local government has invested about 20 million yuan ($3 million) to equip the residences with kitchens, bathrooms and other furnishings.
"The unit has complete living facilities and is quite close to where my job is," said a resident who works in the area's Internet Industry Park.
Startups and workers pay about 500 yuan ($75) a month for one of 674 single and double-room units.
Liangjiang aims to move from a "co-working" to a "co-working and living" environment, allowing startup teams to live and work more closely, easing the pressures of commercial rental costs and high commute times.
Liangjiang is continuing efforts to provide local support services for startups. Shuttle buses, an operating service center and an overseas tal-ent incubator are expected to further support local companies.
