JD.com drops the '.com' and moves in store in Chongqing

On Dec 22 China's leading e-commerce giant JD.com announced its plan to leap from virtual reality into reality with the construction of its first-ever international store in Chongqing's Fortune Finance Plaza.

The building of JD's first physical store, to be located in the Liangjiang New Area of the city, was made possible through the collaborative efforts of Chongqing Union Supply Chain Management Co Ltd, a subsidiary of JD.com, and HKI China Land Limited, operator of Chongqing Fortune Plaza.

Thanks to the highly efficient services of JD logistics, the 6,300-sqaure-meter store will give local residents hands-on access to high-quality products from all over the world.

"The Chongqing store will enjoy the advantages of 100 percent certified products, the marketing of self-supporting global products, quick delivery and combination of experience and trading," said Zhao Shidong, head of Chongqing Union Supply Chain Management Co Ltd.

Hu Xu, assistant president of HKI China Land Limited, said, "The cooperation with JD will bring customers a brand new shopping experience and it will be the new impetus of our shopping center."

Hu added that the Chongqing Fortune Plaza is aiming to build into an area that interweaves the lakeside park and commercial center in the downtown of Chongqing and is expected to complete upgrading in 2019.
