Alibaba Group announced its cooperation with Liangjiang New Area on Jan 11, to further push forward the construction of "smart Liangjiang".
According to the agreement, major focus will be put on digital economy. Both parties will deepen cooperation in finance, logistics, and cross-border electronic commerce, to jointly build Liangjiang New Area into a core and pilot zone of "smart Chongqing".
Alibaba will also settle its high-level regional center in the Liangjiang Digital Economy Industrial Park to boost Liangjiang's economic development.
It is estimated that by the end of 2018, there will be 300 people in the operation team of the regional center, helping Chongqing build one of the most intelligent megapolis.
Alibaba will ally with its partners to build an innovation center and mass entrepreneurship and innovation base in Liangjiang, as well as a digital application exhibition hall.

A digital service platform will be applied in local urban security system, healthcare service, food safety and government affairs service.
By 2020, the GDP of Liangjiang Digital Economy Industrial Park will exceed 40 billion yuan ($6.17 billion), with more than 3,000 companies settling in. About 30 leading enterprises will be introduced and cultivated, helping Chongqing build its modern industry.
In addition, Alibaba will strengthen cooperation with auto companies including Changan, Lifan and Jinkang in intelligent connected vehicle (ICV) and build platforms for research and development of ICV, and testing of ICV.
Furthermore, both parties will deepen cooperation in building platforms for retail, foreign trade and mass entrepreneurship and innovation service.

In the future, the cooperation will expand to areas including public security, municipal administration, tourism and environmental protection and expand further to relevant areas of urban management and social governance.
Alibaba will also help build smart information infrastructure including platforms for smart healthcare system, smart education system, smart traffic system and "Internet + government administration" service.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
