Chongqing will install 500 quick chargers at 21 bus stations in its nine districts by the end of September, local media reported on Feb 5.
Upon completion, the chargers will be used by various vehicles including buses and private cars.
Currently, 118 chargers in six bus stations are nearly finished and will be put to use by the end of March.
As an important manufacturing base of automobiles in Chongqing, Liangjiang New Area plans to install 250 chargers in 11 bus stations this year. They will greatly boost the development of the new energy automobile industry in Liangjiang New Area.
The chargers are jointly built by Chongqing Bayi Bus Company and Zhejiang Wanma New Energy Company.
It only takes 30 minutes to fully charge a regular car and the power enables the car run 200 kilometers, according to Chongqing Bayi Bus Company.
The company is now speeding up the construction of chargers at all bus stations. Twenty-three chargers at Chengnan bus station in Yubei district and Chaibaochang bus station in Nan'an district will be the first to be operational.
After the installation of 500 chargers, a new energy vehicle charger service network will be formed in Chongqing and the city's advantage in having a well-developed bus system will be further strengthened.

John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
