Automated lanes had come into service at border crossings in Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport, reporters learned from border inspection team of public security bureau of Chongqing.

The PRC Ministry of Public Security pledged on Jan 22 to increase the number of automated border control lanes and promote self-service clearance services across the country.

Many passengers chose to use the self-check channels, instead of waiting in long lines like before. A lady surnamed Luo who always travels abroad said, "It's just so convenient, like what we see in the movie. It's faster than other countries."

The passengers only have to show their identity document, compare their actual faces to those on the document and take their fingerprints. It only takes about eight seconds, six times faster than the previous method, which greatly increases the efficiency.

Currently Chongqing Airport has 30 entry and exit self-check channels, one with the most self-check channels in central and western regions. All qualified passengers from home and abroad can choose this service. It's estimated that it brings convenience to around one million passengers annually.

Chongqing Airport has 69 airlines with a network of passenger and freight lines in Europe, America, Asia and Oceania.

Chongqing border inspection will incorporate more technologies to build "intelligent port" and "smart border inspection", according to a staff member with border inspection team of public security bureau of Chongqing.

The self-service clearance service would improve the service of Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport and further increase Chongqing's competitiveness and appeal.
