Liangjiang New Area plans to build around 40 new schools with a total investment of 10 billion yuan ($1.58 billion) over the coming three years, according to local media on March 21.

The district had previously unveiled a "Three-year Action Plan in Education Development". According to the plan, the area will build itself into a regional education hub, attracting skilled workers and laying a solid ground for training local residents –– helping spur innovation.

Zhang Youling, a member of the Party working committee and inspector of the management committee of Liangjiang New Area, said that the area would press ahead with the three-year plan and build schools to the highest standards to provide equal and high-quality education for all children.

Priority will be given to five key aspects in the new schools –– employing the best teaching staff, developing students' all-round abilities, school culture, special programs and digital learning.
