The 2018 China "Internet Plus" & Digital Economy Summit kicked off in Chongqing's Liangjiang New Area on April 12.
During the summit, Chinese internet giant Tencent Holdings Ltd signed an agreement with state-owned Chongqing Changan Automobile Co to break ground on a supercomputing center in Liangjiang New Area.

The one billion yuan (about $159 million) project will set up a platform for internet of vehicles (IoV) and big data analysis and cloud technologies to offer comprehensive solutions for smart vehicles and operating services.

The cooperation will highlight construction of an influential manufacturing center and a national demonstration base of industrial internet, boosting the evolution of digital economy and the reform of traditional industry.
Liangjiang New Area will also encourage local manufacturers to share resources with the supercomputing center and expand the layout of intelligent industries via the Tencent Cloud Center, promoting the brand "Made in Liangjiang".
"Made in Liangjiang" will help Chongqing to integrate internet technology with the manufacturing industry, according to the Liangjiang New Area administrative committee.

John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
