The Chongqing government and the Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSE) recently agreed to build a capital market service base in the Chongqing Jiangbeizui International Investment & Financing Roadshow Center in Liangjiang New Area, Chongqing municipality.

As the first SSE capital market service base in west China, it will utilize SSE's resources, talent and professional advantages to provide access for companies and other issuers to the market.

The base will allow SSE to cooperate with Chongqing in finding companies with development potential. By organizing training sessions and research and promotion activities, the base will provide customized one-stop services for companies looking to connect with the capital market, said Liu Shaotong, deputy manager of SSE.

To improve the securitization of the economy, Chongqing released an action plan on Aug 7 which seeks to double the amount of quoted companies in the city.

Currently, one third of Chongqing's quoted companies are located in Liangjiang, and with many unicorn companies soon to be listed, the quantity and quality of companies in Liangjiang surpasses that of the rest of the city.

The base will enhance the influence of Jiangbeizui and promote the construction of a financial center in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, said Yang Lijie, deputy director of the Liangjiang administrative committee.

During the first half of the year, the Jiangbeizui central business district has realized 8.64 billion yuan ($1.24 billion) of added value in the financial industry, a year-on-year increase of 19.6 percent.

Meanwhile, 297 new companies registered in Jiangbeizui, a year-on-year increase of 9.2 percent, bringing the total number of companies in the area to 2,087.
