Smart health care and intelligent city governance were put in the spotlight during the first Smart China Expo held in Southwest China's Chongqing municipality from Aug 23 to 25.
Themed "Smart Technology: Empowering Economy, Enriching Life", the expo highlights new products, technologies, and models in the global development of big data and intelligent industries.
As an important partner of Chongqing's municipal government, CapitalBio Technology, under Tsinghua Holdings' CapitalBio Corporation, showcased its industry-leading bio-chip products, high-throughput micro-array scanning, and individual-oriented customized health management systems.

The Eyeball Imaging Smart Analyzer, in particular, was strongly recommended by the expo organizer and specially arranged in the Chongqing booth of the main pavilion. The analyzer combines traditional Chinese medicine diagnosis theory with modern medical equipment, and has been playing an important role in the ongoing diabetes control program in Liangjiang New Area, Chongqing.
GSafety, the only research spin-off of the Institute of Public Safety Research at Tsinghua University, released its smart city solution for public security and emergency management. The solution adopts an integrative framework comprised of specialized networks, cloud services, and real-time monitoring. Taking every aspect of city governance into account, the system will develop along with the city and always offers timely support for the government's situational analysis and decision-making.

The first Smart China Expo in Southwest China's Chongqing attracted more than 500 exhibitors from home and abroad, including Tsinghua Holdings, Alibaba, Tencent, Baidu, and Qualcomm, as well as over 100 foreign guests from 28 countries and regions.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
