Southwest China's Chongqing Liangjiang New Area has released a new three-year plan to upgrade current industries and embrace green development, local media reported on Oct 10.
By 2020, there will be up to 15 pilot green factories and 60 voluntary clean production enterprises engaged in Liangjiang's key sectors of automobiles, electronics, machinery and chemical engineering.
Local government will focus on research into green manufacturing technologies, the construction of green supply chains, the transformation of production procedures and the usage of clean energy and materials.

A resource recycling mechanism will apply to all key industries, with the administrative committee of Liangjiang New Area planning to establish an information sharing website to bridge the supply and demand of products and materials. This will allow both upstream and downstream enterprises to benefit from a series of coordinated supply chains.
Liangjiang New Area will adhere to the conviction that "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets" and integrate big data into green industries, according to an announcement from the administrative committee.
It is expected by 2020 that the area's energy consumption per unit of GDP will drop by 8 percent, while water consumption will drop by 10 percent.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
