Huawei Technologies Co, which overtook Apple Inc as the world's second-largest smartphone vendor in the second quarter, has partnered with CISDI Engineering Co to cooperate in Chongqing's smart city development.

According to the agreement, both parties will focus on several key sectors. These include upgrading steel enterprises, smart industrial parks, agricultural big data and smart manufacturing.

CISDI, an international engineering service provider under China Minmetals, will develop a series of new solutions for steel enterprises who are committed to smart manufacturing and smart city development, with technical support from Huawei Cloud.

"Chongqing is implementing its innovative development strategy featuring big data and smart management," said a manager from CISDI. "We will bring in more advanced technologies and ideas to help accelerate the process."

Headquartered in Southwest China's Chongqing, the company has offered engineering services to over 30,000 enterprises and institutions both at home and abroad.
