Chongqing iQiyi Technology Co, the smart device arm of the video streaming provider iQiyi Inc, is launching the iQiyi Ultimate Theater (iQUT) Project in Liangjiang New Area, with a plan to open 10,000 VR theaters across the country.
"With Liangjiang's resources, we will double our investment in smart devices, forging a VR ecology that combines user-friendly software and industry-leading hardware," said an iQiyi Technology project manager.
More and more Chongqing hotels, for instance, will provide customers with mini theaters equipped with iQiyi VR devices.
The Adventures II is the company's main product this year, a standalone headset offering an immersive and seamless watching experience with a giant 42 meters by 23.5 meters virtual screen, larger than iMAX screens.

Weighing just 280 grams, the VR device also comes with Dolby Atmos, built-in microphones and 4K resolution.
"The Adventures II proved a popular choice in domestic markets and was made a sales champion during this year's June 18 shopping gala on JD.com," said the project manager.
Users of iQUT will have access to all content available on iQiyi, com, including over 1,000 Hollywood classics, Oscar winners and popular movies that performed well in the global box office.
