Guoyuan Port in Liangjiang New Area has connected to a comprehensive service platform for sea-river combined container transport along the Yangtze River, Chongqing Port Logistic Group has announced, resulting in a mutual exchange of logistics information with Shanghai Port.
The platform, developed by Shanghai Port, provides online access to shipping plans, manifests, schedules and cargo. The data can be exchanged in real-time through the service platform based on series of stress testing, simulation debugging and actual data testing.
Other than acting as a logistic information sharing platform, it will also allow companies to access information on liner condition, as well as monitoring and tracking vessels and cargo to improve transport efficiency.
The development of multimodal transportation in Guoyuan Port will help to reduce costs, increase efficiency and strengthen both the Belt and Road Initiative and the Yangtze River Economic Belt.
During the first three quarters of this year, the development of multimodal transportation system platforms, services, standards and technologies in Guoyuan Port has resulted in 3.7 million metric tons of freight volume by both rail and water, with a year-on-year increase of 52.8 percent.
