A production line making the 6th generation of flexible active-matrix organic light-emitting diode (AMOLED) display screens officially went into operation recently in Liangjiang New Area, Chongqing.
Independently designed, developed and built by BEO Technology, the production line adopts AMOLED technology to produce ultrathin, lightweight, flexible display screens used in the production of smartphones and laptops.

The project, with a total investment of 46.5 billion yuan ($6.75 billion), has the production capacity of 48,000 glass substrates per month.
It is the company's third such production line in the country, following those in Chengdu and Mianyang of Sichuan province, both of which have hit mass production.
BOE Technology is a high-tech company specializing in intelligent products. It was established in 1993 and is based in Beijing.
So far, BOE has produced several products with flexible display screens including tablets and intelligent lamps featuring household appliance control.

John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
