Two bridges in Chongqing recently won the country's highest award in terms of technological innovation in civil engineering.

They are Chongqing Dongshuimen Yangtze River Bridge and Chongqing Qiansimen Jialing River Bridge, which were listed among the 30 winners of the 16th Tien-yow Jeme Civil Engineering Prize and received high praise as landmarks integrating comprehensive transportation, humanistic landscapes and scientific and technological innovation.

They are the carriers of Chongqing's backbone rail transit lines, and vital bridges connecting the Yangtze and Jiangling Rivers and Chongqing's main districts.

The Dongshuimen bridge is the world's first partially cable-stayed bridge with a span of 445 meters, which has significance for domestic cable-stayed bridge construction and local social and economic benefits.

The Tien-yow Jeme Civil Engineering Prize, established by the China Civil Engineering Society and Beijing Zhantianyou Development Foundation for Science and Technology in 1999, is the top prize for scientific and technological innovation in civil engineering construction.
