Chongqing was surrounded by various sales promotions during the Dragon Boat Festival holiday from June 7 to 9, with the turnover reaching 1.62 billion yuan ($235.52 million), a year-on-year increase of 8.5 percent.
“The imported fresh fruits and drinks are in large demand, and some preferential ones were even sold out temporarily,” said a staff member of Metro Group.
The automobile market became a hot topic during the holiday. It was estimated that over 100,000 people took part in the 2019 Chongqing International Automotive Exhibition and the sales showed that middle and high-level automobiles are more favored by customers.
With increased incomes and better quality of lives, people have changed their shopping habits. They are paying more attention on the quality of products they buy, as well as smart and high-end products.
The promotion activities, including the delivery of red packets and DIY rice dumplings, enhanced the festival atmosphere and brought a 15 percent sales growth to Suning.
Almost all the shopping centers in Chongqing provided comprehensive services and a wide range of products to satisfy the needs of consumers, showing that the integration of shopping, restaurants, and entertainment have become a successful new trend.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
