The 58th China International Pharmaceutical Machinery Exposition (CIPM) kicked off in Liangjiang New Area, Southwest China's Chongqing municipality on Nov 5 and will last for three days.
It is the fifth time that Liangjiang has held CIPM, the world's largest and most professional expo for pharmaceutical machinery. This year's CIPM covers an area of 180,000 square meters with 1,320 exhibitors.
The exhibits features eight categories of pharmaceutical machinery, such as preparation machinery, active pharmaceutical ingredient machinery, and pharmaceutical packaging machinery.
In addition, three forums and 68 seminars have been organized during the expo to allow experts opportunities to discuss the future development of pharmaceutical machinery.
With its industrial foundation and location advantages, Liangjiang has formed a biomedicine industry cluster covering an area of 4,000 mu (266.67 hectares), with around 150 companies involved in innovative drugs, high-end chemicals, medical equipment, and health services.
CIPM is expected to build an international trade platform for Chongqing's pharmaceutical companies to experience advanced medical theories from home and abroad, explore the latest medical equipment technology, as well as pursue cutting-edge medical treatment information from around the world.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
