Liangjiang New Area of Southwest China's Chongqing municipality released its latest talent attraction policies during a symposium on Nov 15.
According to the policies, high-end talents and project teams will receive financial support of up to 30 million yuan ($4.27 million). Recognized excellent first class scientists and teams will receive a fund of up to 100 million yuan.
Newly built academician workstations, postdoctoral research workstations, and key labs above the municipal level will receive a subsidy of up to 1 million yuan, while newly built skill-oriented talent training bases will receive a one-time subsidy of up to 30 million yuan.
Representatives of high-end talents and workstations received checks of incentive funds totaling 15 million yuan at the symposium, including 1 million yuan per academician workstation and 300,000 yuan per postdoctoral research workstation.
According to the plan, Liangjiang's talents will contribute at least 40 percent to Liangjiang New Area's economic growth in the next five years, and create an attractive environment for talents from all over the world.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
