Since becoming a pilot area of service trade in 2016, Liangjiang New Area of Southwest China's Chongqing municipality has seen growth in its service trade, with a year-on-year growth of 20 percent from January to September this year.
Liangjiang's service trade increased from $7.5 billion in 2016 to $12.1 billion in 2018, an average annual growth of 20 percent, and maintained the 20 percent growth rate this year.
Currently, Liangjiang's service trade industrial park focuses on developing cross border e-commerce, financial leasing, headquarters trade, as well as finance and professional service industries, possessing 206 service trade companies with 4,300 employees.
To deepen innovation in service trade, Liangjiang has reduced the market access standard for international service providers, deepened reform in key areas, and improved the service trade security system.
In the future, Liangjiang will accelerate the cultivation of key enterprises in the service trade area, explore development models of service trade's integration with other industries, and establish a service platform for promoting service trade.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
