In the last year, Southwest China's Chongqing municipality has maintained a 20 percent growth in its environmental industry sales revenue, which is estimated to reach 110 billion yuan ($15.64 million) this year and 130 billion yuan next year.
In 2018, Chongqing's environmental industry achieved sales revenue of 90 billion yuan. By 2025, the number is expected to reach 130 billion yuan, and key enterprises with an annual output value above 10 billion are expected to be cultivated.
Chongqing continues to increase investment in its environmental industry, with over 2 percent of its GDP being invested, which is higher than the national 1.5 percent average. Environmental companies and institutions are striving to provide solutions for different environmental problems in Chongqing.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
