The headquarters of Lenovo's 5G communications business opened in Liangjiang New Area, Southwest China's Chongqing municipality on Dec 5.
It is the first headquarters project signed between a Fortune Global 500 company and Liangjiang. According to the agreement signed in August, the headquarters, which has an investment of 5 billion yuan ($710.42 million), will function as a 5G communications, R&D, delivery, and exhibition center.
The headquarters will lay a foundation for future cooperation between Lenovo and Liangjiang on R&D institutions, venture projects, smart terminals, supercomputing, and cloud computing.
Lenovo will introduce the upstream and downstream companies of its industrial chain to Liangjiang, which will complete Liangjiang's smart industrial chain and promote Chognqing's 5G industry's access to internationally advanced technologies.
Liangjiang has implemented the innovation driven development strategic action plan led by big data to boost the 5G industry. To date, Liangjiang has opened Chongqing's first 5G pilot network with a series of 5G applications.
