KL International School of Chongqing Bashu (KLIS) in Yubei district is the first and only international school providing American education approved by the Chongqing Municipal Education Commission.
It opened in 2015 and provides preschool, primary and middle school education, in English, for students from outside the Chinese mainland. Each class from preschool to the fifth grade has fewer than 17 students, while classes from sixth to 12th grade have fewer than 20 students each.
The teachers at KLIS come from different language and cultural backgrounds, though they all have at least five years of teaching experience in North America or international schools. Their various specialties such as piano, graphic design, public speaking or model making will inspire the potential of their students.
KLIS adopts courses and teaching methods from America, applying these to students of different ages. Students with KLIS's school reports and diplomas can apply to universities all over the world. Middle school students can also transfer to schools in North America, Europe and Asia.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
