China's Best Museum Exhibitions of 2019 Awards were unveiled on May 18. Twenty-nine winners distinguish themselves in five categories. The annual event, dubbed the Oscar Awards in China's cultural relics realm, has now completed its 17th run since its inception in 1997, receiving 114 applications from various types of museums.
The winning exhibitions cover a wide range of themes, including art, science, history, natural history, and modern revolutionary history, and offer various perspectives on and interpretations of artistic, historical, or scientific collections. Notably, two categories of awards are dedicated to international joint exhibitions to promote cross-cultural understandings between China and the rest of the world.

Centering on the 130-year history of Chongqing's industry, this exhibition not only chronicles the developments made since Chongqing opened its port to foreigners, but also the tremendous contributions by Chongqing's industry during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (1931-45), the national economic recovery, the urbanization of Chongqing, and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

This exhibition is the first of its kind in China to display the development of industrial sectors in a way that looks both backwards and forwards; it looks back on the development of Chongqing's industry over the past century, and also looks forward to the future development of new sectors emerging in the Thirteenth Five-Year Plan (2016-20) period.
With a main pavilion covering an area of 5,510 square meters,the exhibition is organized in chronological sequence and has been divided into six parts, which include The Preface, The Opening up of Chongqing - A Spark of Industry, The War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression - The Industrial Rear, The Third Front Construction - The Base of Industry, The Reform - The Industrial Transformation, and The Future - The Industrial Prospect. A total of 428 exhibits, including 43 precious cultural relics, are on display.
This exhibition isdesigned to tell the story of the industrial history of Chongqing and enrich the cultural heritage of the city, based on in-depth research of Chongqing's historical data, plus displays of Chongqing's tangible and intangible industrial culture. To achieve those goals, it has used a variety of modern technologies to present the cultural components of the century-old industrial history and the great industrial spirit of different periods.
