A blood dialysis liquid called TWT-Y -- developed by SWS Hemodialysis Care Co in Liangjiang New Area, Southwest China's Chongqing municipality -- was recently approved by National Medical Products Administration and will soon be available on the market, according to area officials.
TWT-Y was developed by the company over the past three years and has met international standards in a number of core indicators, including microbial limits and electrolyte concentration.
Officials said the company adopted self-developed bacterial and microbial control methods to make sure TWT-Y's bacteria and microbes would meet the standard within one year of preservation.
Meanwhile, other harmful substances including heavy metal, pathogenic bacteria and endotoxin in TWT-Y will be controlled through ultrafiltration. In the case of long-term use, it will not cause a series of complications for the patients.
Officials said the company's 3,000-square-meter bioengineering technology R&D center is equipped with an automatic intelligent production line to guarantee the quality of the products.
To date, the company has applied for eight international patents and 135 national patents, achieved 91 granted patents and led the drafting of two national standards and five industrial standards, which promoted the development of hemodialysis-related industries in China, officials said.
The company next plans to expand the production and supply chain of hemodialysis consumable materials and contribute to Liangjiang's biomedicine industry development.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
