The 18th China International Agricultural Trade Fair (CATF) will be held in Southwest China's Chongqing municipality on Nov 27-30 and is expected to attract 12,000 exhibitors bringing over 80,000 varieties of agricultural products.
The annual CATF has been successfully held in 11 cities across China. This year's fair will have the largest scale to date, aiming to help agricultural companies expand their market and help impoverished areas to shake off poverty.
It will be held at Chongqing International Expo Center and cover an exhibition area of more than 200,000 square meters. The trade fair will include an exhibition area demonstrating how poverty has been alleviated through industrial development, as well as the living environment, products with geographical indications, agricultural reclamation and agricultural cooperation across the Strait.
There will also be an exhibition area to showcase grain and oil, fruits and vegetables, aquatic products, animal meat, sugars, alcoholic beverages and tea, as well as an exhibition hall for large companies.
It is the second year that CATF will apply a market-oriented operation scheme. So far, 12,000 companies have signed up for the fair, including over 300 major companies such as COFCO, China Mobile and Haier.
In addition to offline purchasing channels such as wholesalers, supermarkets, chain stores and restaurants, visitors can buy CATF's agricultural products via online platforms such as Alibaba, TikTok and WeChat.
For the first time, CAFTA will also hold a promotional event to introduce China's leading companies and brands from different industries to help agricultural companies expand their market.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
