Statistics show that by Dec 7, the total number of market entities in Liangjiang New Area, in Southwest China's Chongqing municipality, reached 100,062 with a total registered capital of 1.27 trillion yuan ($194.42 billion).
During the first 11 months of this year, 17,722 new market entities were added in Liangjiang, which means an average of 73 market entities were added per day.
Among the market entities, more than 50,000 are enterprises with domestic funding, while 1,046 are foreign enterprises.
The vigorous development of market entities is relying on Liangjiang's optimized business environment. In recent years, Liangjiang has been a pioneer in separating operating permits and business licenses, the self-help registration system for self-employed people and the paperless procedure for company registration.
Meanwhile, Liangjiang and Tianfu New Area in neighboring Sichuan province have enhanced cooperation in integrating market supervision. They have also unified across-regional restrictions on market access so that operating permits and business licenses can be applied for and recognized in either area.
In the future, Liangjiang and Tianfu will explore the paperless application procedure and intelligent management system to attract more high-quality enterprises to develop in the region.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
