Sany Group, China's leading equipment manufacturing company, is constructing its intelligent manufacturing project in Liangjiang New Area, Southwest China's Chongqing municipality.
The project agreement was signed in July 2020, and it will be constructed in two stages with a total investment of 5 billion yuan ($772.26 million). Stage one started construction in September of last year and will be completed in April. The facility's first phase will go into operation in July of this year.
The second stage will start construction in April and be completed by the end of 2022. Once finished, the project will produce 40,000 engineering machines per year with an output value of around 10-20 billion yuan.
The project is Sany's first factory in Southwest China, and it will realize an automatic productivity rate of 80 percent. Sany chose Liangjiang as its factory location due to the area's complete industrial support system and to benefit from its personnel, supply chain and low-cost logistics.
The project is also expected to attract more suppliers in the future and build a complete supply chain of weight equipment manufacturing in Liangjiang, making it China's top city for industrial machinery.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
