A reading activity was held on March 21 at Yuelai International Convention and Exhibition City in Liangjiang New Area.
The activity aimed to enhance cross-industry idea exchanges on how to boost the local digital economy amid the new normal of pandemic prevention and control.
Hot topics such as the "dual circulation development pattern" and "new infrastructure" were also mentioned during the activity.
Chongqing Yuelai Investment & Development Co and H3C Co co-hosted the activity, which was attended by Zhou Qing (deputy secretary-general of Chongqing's municipal government), Yang Hongmei (deputy chief procurator of Chongqing Municipal People's Procuratorate) and Wen Tianping (director of the Internet Information Office of the Chongqing Municipal Party Committee).
Zhou Qing said that 2021 is the beginning of the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25) and that Chongqing will become a national leader for high-quality development and living standards. The government will steadfastly develop Chongqing into a nationally influential economic and scientific innovation hub and a highland of reform and opening-up.
To make the city "smarter," experts on big data and other related areas were invited to share their vision of the future.
Liu Lingling, a professor from the School of Economics and Management at Tsinghua University, urged the necessity of intelligentizing the fields of healthcare, agriculture, infrastructure construction and environmental protection, and offered her thoughts on digitalization.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
