The Lianglu Cuntan Free Trade Port Area – located in the Liangjiang New Area, in Southwest China's Chongqing municipality – hit 2.02 million in cross-border e-commerce orders during the first quarter of the year, a surge of 17.3 percent year-on-year.
With the help of intelligent systems, the free trade port area's cross-border e-commerce has reportedly maintained rapid growth in recent years. Currently, the free trade port is moving to standardize its business procedures through a digitalized supply chain system.
With visual data and procedures, the area can provide guidance for cross-border e-commerce business through data analysis and improved work efficiency – providing better business services – and share data with upper and lower reach supply chains, to achieve uniform standard supply chain business procedures.
The online contract management function of the system is currently under development and testing and is due to launch by the end of April.
The area's ground service system for cross-border e-commerce is also becoming more intelligent. After adopting an intelligent sorting and packing system, the area can handle about 1 million packages per day.
Meanwhile, the area is equipped with four customs inspection lines and the first automatic packaging line for cross-border e-commerce in Southwest China.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
