Jinshan Yuncui Primary School, located in Liangjiang New Area, Southwest China's Chongqing municipality, completed its first stage of construction on April 20. When it begins operations, it will become Liangjiang's first primary school equipped with an intelligent system.
The school has a floor area of 38,888 square meters with 36 classrooms for 1,620 students. The second stage is expected to be completed in July 2022.
The overall development plan calls for the construction of one 600-seat conference hall, standard sports grounds, an indoor gymnasium, psychological counseling rooms, a school history exhibition room and featured classrooms for technological innovation.
When established, the primary school is expected to meet the demand for basic education in neighboring areas, balance the distribution of education resources and contribute to the construction of a high-quality resident community.
Liangjiang plans to invest 1.4 billion yuan ($215.77 million) to construct or extend 10 primary and middle schools and kindergartens. It will also accelerate the upgrading of old schools and help all the schools in the area to meet modern standards.
Since the beginning of this year, Liangjiang has focused on improving people's livelihoods and launched construction projects to improve public services for education, medical treatment, entertainment and social security.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
