The second stage of Liangjiang Coordinative Zone's internet of vehicles demonstration area was approved on April 19 and is ready to start construction.
The zone and demonstration area are located in Southwest China's Chongqing municipality.
Building on successful experiences in Wuxi, Changsha and Tianjin, Liangjiang completed construction of the demonstration area's first stage at the end of February. The project highlights Chongqing's landscape characteristics and is integrated with Chongqing's enterprises and universities to create a 3D traffic scenario.
The second stage of the project will allow drivers, vehicles, roads, internet and cloud computing to cooperate and realize automatic driving and vehicle-road coordination in urban areas.
With the spread of internet of vehicles technology and the rise of new energy automobiles, the city's intelligent traffic system will be low-energy, more efficient and safer.
In the future, Liangjiang Coordinative Zone will attract more resources from the internet of vehicles industry, such as intelligent vision positioning systems, car-carried terminals and vehicle-to-everything (V2X) solutions to make technological breakthroughs and develop products.
Meanwhile, the zone will accelerate the construction of an internet of vehicles alliance, build a vehicle-road coordination network and boost its transformation and upgrading.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
