Chongqing Liangjiang New Area People's Court (Chongqing Pilot Free Trade Zone People's Court) and Sichuan Pilot Free Trade Zone People's Court recently co-hosted a news conference and signed a cooperation memorandum to commence their coordinated efforts on cases related to the intellectual property right (IPR) in the two free trade zones, according to local media reports on May 14.
The two courts also co-issued a series of documents that included an IPR dispute lawsuit application and censorship guidance, and the typical case demonstrations of IPR protection. The memorandum listed five collaboration mechanisms that cover aspects including cross-region coordination, the release of typical IPR cases, multi-dimensional protection of IPR and academic exchanges about IPR protection in free trade zones.
The IPR dispute lawsuit application and censorship guidance deals with the specific materials and proof an IPR protection candidate needs to prepare before going to the court, as well as the principles and procedures that judicial officials need to follow when censoring cases.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
