The Chongqing Liangjiang New Area film and television industry summit forum was launched in Shuitu New City, Liangjiang New Area of Southwest China's Chongqing, on May 16.
Officials from the Publicity Department of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee, Chongqing Municipal Commission of Culture and Tourism Development and Liangjiang New Area attended the forum.
During the event, movie and television companies including Tencent Penguin Pictures, Suzhou Lanbaihong Film Co and Guangdong Huaxia TV Co all signed strategic collaboration agreements with local entertainment enterprises.
Meanwhile, renowned domestic and overseas movie companies, film distribution corporations and film-making teams were invited to the forum to discuss technological innovation in film and television making, the integration of the entertainment industry with Chongqing's unique characteristics, and the exploration of multi-dimensional business models.
Zhang Hongbin, deputy director of the Publicity Department of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee, said Chongqing is a "gorgeous resource" for the film and TV production industry, and also a hot destination for sightseeing.
Zhang Li, member of the Chongqing Liangjiang New Area Party's Work Committee, said the entertainment industry has become an integral part of the cultural and information industries, and is already considered a new economic growth point that drives regional development.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
