An unveiling ceremony for the industrial intelligent innovation laboratory was held on May 28 in Liangjiang New Area in Southwest China's Chongqing municipality.
Municipal government officials, representatives from the Chongqing Liangjiang New Area Administrative Committee and senior leaders from Inspur Group attended the ceremony.
The laboratory will reportedly be committed to helping meet carbon-reduction and carbon-neutrality targets. It will conduct basic research focusing on auto and equipment manufacturing and electronics.
Yang Zhenghua, a member of the Chongqing Economy and Information Commission, said in his address that industrial internet, big data, AI and 5G technologies have accelerated society's reform of living and production models, as well as the governance patterns of the government. As a result, the manufacturing sector is evolving to become more digital and intelligent. This evolution has generated plenty of new businesses and models for the sector and has injected vitality into it.
He also pointed out what Chongqing can do to advance its industrial internet business. Based on the reconstruction of chains of industry, innovation and value, Chongqing's economy has demonstrated its resilience and dynamic nature. Moving forward, the municipality will gradually complete the cyber-infrastructure, foster more industrial internet platforms and guide enterprises to carry out smart production, internet-based coordination, digital management and customized design.
Li Guangrong, senior inspector of Liangjiang's administrative committee, hailed the new area as having the first-mover advantage in digital economy infrastructure. Li added that the industrial internet industry alliance founded in March this year will help Liangjiang transform industrial internet results into mature commercial products and empower the upgrading of the traditional industrial structure.
Xiao Xue, official from Inspur Group, said Inspur will further promote the construction of new-type infrastructure that serves the industrial internet business. The company will also strive to drive Chongqing and Liangjiang's high-quality economic development.
John Edwards, the UK trade commissioner for China, praised Chongqing over its rise as a burgeoning center in intelligent manufacturing.
